Ugh And to think this series started off great What the heck happened The reader is yet again treated to a mess of paranormal and suspense elements that simply refuse to stick together, making this book appear rather twitchy The plot is all over the place, the characters from the previous books have somehow lost their sparkle Marley and Nat respectively , and the effort of introducing Wazoo, Nat s best friend felt forced And don t even get me started on the issue of Poppy and Sykes I ve never read of a mismatched and not in a good way and cold pair of leading characters.Usually such books have at least an upside in the paranormal suspense department Sadly, this story wasn t one of those The glimpses of what was going on around Poppy and Sykes were sporadic and dull, those baddies of the Embran have lost their flair from the first book, and, though started as integral part of the series arc, were relegated into the backdrop, revisited only as an afterthought.Really disappointing And since two bad books in a row already start to make a pattern I won t visit the Court of Angels any.

The final edition in the Court of Angels trilogy is the best of them all By this time, the reader has gotten the hang of the somewhat confusing paranormal world these people are living in and what their powers are Although, quite a few of them develop new powers as necessary to escape the current situation, which is somewhat lazy storytelling Cameron is much better at writing believable chemistry between two characters than she is writing suspense, police jargon, or fantasy tales The book really sizzles when focused on the burgeoning romance of Sykes and Poppy, who this reader had been rooting for since the previous book It s very gratifying to see them come together What is not gratifying is the climax to the Millet family s battle with the Embran and the big reveal of the Harmony and the Ultimate Power that it holds Total letdown Cameron uses a shadowy ancestor a device she employed before in her Mayfair Square series, to much the same underwhelming effect to imply that there may be books forthcoming involving characters we ve been introduced to in and around the Court of Angels While that would certainly be welcome, hopefully Cameron doesn t think she needs to come up with a new supernatural threat to menace them She should really just stick to couples meeting and marrying as that s what she does best.

Poppy Fortune has a lot to make up for First she almost sabotaged the burgeon romance between her brother, Ben, and his new wife, Willow Even after their bonding, she still didn t believe Willow had the power to match Ben s She tried to make amends, but it s an impossible sin to forgive, at least in her mind.Sykes, Willow s older brother and Ben s best friend, has been a thorn in Poppy s side He shows her disdain for her misdeeds, but there s to his emotions than meets the eye At the first brush of their hands, electricity erupts, grabbing Poppy s attention.Sykes remembers Poppy from years of growing up along side the Fortunes, Ben s troublesome little sister But, now Sykes has had his fill of Millet problems, Millet destinies, and Millet s mentor, Jude, who brought the Millet curse to Sykes shoulders Now, all Sykes wants is to find a woman he can be himself with, he wants what others have found Poppy brings a new realization into his life She s all grown up and enticing as ever.Out of Sight by Stella Cameron continues the Court of Angels Series Sykes is the oldest of the Millet children, now abandoned by their parents who are searching for the answer to the curse the Millet s have endured and having left Uncle Pascal in place as the lead of the family, a position that should have been Sykes by all rights He s the oldest child in the family, but he s also the only one cursed, Jude Millet s curse of the dark hair and blue eyes, all the other Millets have the legendary red hair Sykes thinks the curse is nonsense and so does Pascal, if the truth is known, and Pascal would like nothing better than to turn the reins of the burgeoning family over to Sykes capable hands Pascal has his own problems to contend with, including a night of indiscretion in his wayward youth But, the Embran, the creatures that would like to take over in this realm, also have to be dealt with, and it will take all the families working together to overcome the formidable foe The Embran who are gradually disseminating and infecting their host bodies It is only through finding the Harmony that the families can defeat the Embran, and only Sykes has the ability that they need.Out of Sight was another exceptional read from Stella Cameron who combines mystery, mayhem, psychic ability and a sensual romance all together in one book This is Poppy and Sykes story Sykes, the long suffering true head of the Millet family and our enduring hero, and Poppy, the youngest of the Fortunes, deceived by her brothers into thinking she has the least of abilities and our heroine in this tale Sykes has been searching for someone to complete his life and he really doesn t give Poppy a second look as the young sister of his best friend, Ben But while Sykes has been searching, Poppy has grown up and come into her own Now, he s having trouble denying the attraction and sparks that flow between their bodies The question is, if Sykes takes the course laid before him by Millet mentor, Jude, will he ever find anyone else to fill the niche Poppy so completely fills Will he ever locate the keys that will open the Harmony And will the Embran take over New Orleans in the process Out of Sight was an excellent read and I ll be looking for from Stella Cameron If you enjoy a little magical psychic ability with your mayhem and a sensual romance to boot, check the Court of Angels Series Excellent paranormal romance fantasy reading to be enjoyed by all.

I m going to review the books as the 3 volume set started with Out of Body , the story of Marley Millet and Gray Fisher The second book Out of Mind is the story of Willow Millet and Ben Fortune and the third book Out of Sight is the story of Poppy Fortune and Sykes Millet Out of Body , is the first in the Court of Angels series Born of an ancient family of clairvoyants, Marley Millet finds that her psychic gift is both unsettling and incredibly dangerous She never wants to travel again but the choice is not hers to make. After glimpsing the fates of two missing New Orleans jazz singers, Marley knows she has no choice and must speak up before women disappear Flinty cop turned writer Gray Fisher, who interviewed both chanteuses before they vanished, takes a special interest in Marley s incredible story and in Marley.Scouring the wild clubs of the French Quarter, Marley and Gray make an unlikely and uneasy team But their determination is matched only by the heat between them and the evil they have uncovered Out of Mind is the second of the Court of Angels series Willow Millet longs to deny her family s exceptional gifts paranormal talents known to few, shared by even fewer Benedict Fortune is one such a connection that should have strengthened the undeniable bond between him and Willow But her self doubt has driven them apart.Married instead to her business, Willow s concierge we can do anything service is thriving until it is hit by a string of bizarre and fatal accidents every victim a client Now her livelihood depends on two enigmatic socialites and their notoriously decadent parties In this anything goes atmosphere, Willow and Ben are thrown together again and their need for each other is as strong as ever, but they are challenged at every turn. For dark forces are stalking Willow coveting her gift as a means of cheating death and ruling New Orleans forever Out of Sight is the third of the Court of Angels series Psychic master talent Sykes Millet can vanish at will, read minds and control others with hypnosis What Sykes cannot do is escape his destiny an ancient curse foretelling the misery his dark beauty may bring to everyone he loves.Poppy Fortune knows all too well the burden of having paranormal talent The supernatural world has fractured her entire family now it s keeping at bay the one man she wants than life.Driven by hatred for the Millets, a killing force has attacked New Orleans The evil Embran race has no conscience and intends to terrorize the city into submission Sykes and Poppy must set aside old distrust and use their bonded talents to save their families, themselves and New Orleans.I enjoyed these books as a series, but preferred the first two books to this third one Any set of books that contain characters who have paranormal abilities, but who live and function as normal people with professions who live ordinary lives in most aspects of their worlds, is a series I enjoy The premises of these books that there is a race called Embrans who feel they need to destroy the Millets is not especially unusual in the world of paranormal novels, but the actions and abilities of each pair of characters do surprise and delight me The concept of Millet Bonding was really fun and the struggles the women went through accepting the down side being protected by being controlled was fun to read I found this last book a little less inventive than the earlier ones, but do recommend the set.

Out of Sight by Stella Cameron Paranormal Romance April 27th, 2010 4 stars Familiar characters return in this 3rd installment of the Court of Angels paranormal series I loved the combination of paranormal and contemporary in this book Out of Sight was a fun read and I really connected to the 2 main characters and enjoyed reading about them Poppy Fortune has always felt inadequate Her paranormal powers have always been weak and she can t do things the rest of her paranormal family takes for granted Added to this is the guilt she feels for trying to break her brother s relationship with the love of his life Although she had good intentions Poppy realizes the harm she could have done But trouble brews when a wealthy and influential admirer of Poppy s is accused of murder and asks Poppy for help Unfortunately he may to be connected to the Embrans their arch enemies But when Poppy tries to help him the annoyingly confident and sexy Sykes Millet keeps interfering Sykes is a powerful paranormal but his different coloring has cursed him He hides his unhappiness from his family and keeps himself separate But the evil Embran are plotting and Sykes finds himself embroiled in trying to stop them while discovering the secret behind the mysterious keys behind Court of Angels But what worries him most is the irrepressible and wildly attractive Poppy Poppy has always attracted him but when he finds she might be in danger he is willing to bare his feeling to keep her safe I have read Stella Cameron s historical and suspense books but found this new series complex and fascinating I really hope she continues to write books with a paranormal theme because she excels at it The only problem I had was that I read the 3rd book without having read the 1st or 2nd So while the author does a good job up keeping the new reader up to speed I felt there were nuances that I missed and sections where I wasn t sure the implications of because I hadn t read the earlier books So I would highly recommend reading the previous books What I enjoyed the most about this book was the relationship between the 2 main characters Both were extremely likeable and I felt very empathetic towards them I really felt that they had found the other to complete them Both feel they are outcasts Sykes because of his family curse and Poppy because she lacks the ability to read minds like the rest of the paranormals Both are attracted to each other but have a difficult time verbalizing their feelings It was great when they finally were able to let their guards down and allow their mutual attraction blossom Overall, I really enjoyed this book especially the genuine connection between the 2 main characters but I did feel I missed lot not having read the first 2 books and will be going out to get them This was a smooth, fast read that was easy to get addicted to The only reason I didn t grade it higher is because I feel I didn t get as much enjoyment from it as I know I would have if I read the earlier books 1st I only hope she continues this series since there were several characters I would love have their own stories Reviewed by Steph from the Bookaholics Romance Book Club

Ok, for the life of me I still can quite figure out what this book was about There was defiantly a disconnect between the plot and my brain as I m lost as to what the plot actually was As far as I can see it was about keys to the Harmony a book which will bring harmony I guess to the 7 magical families At the same time it was about a bunch of body snatchers taking the body of the a rich and spoiled 3rd wheel to the main characters relationship and framing his for murder Again, this is just guessing as the whole book was a glaze over I was rather excited to read about this hero as I enjoyed his playful demeanor in the previous books and I also began to love him for his obvious bitterness about being passed over as the head of the family I liked some aspects of the heroine but also disliked some as well I really liked how mature she was Though she did snap at people and be a little bitchy at times, she was woman enough to immediately apologize and attempt to her wrongs But she was stupidly na ve to the motives of the 3rd wheel She did lead him on despite what the hero says because she allowed the guy to get to the next step It s obvious he intends to marry you and the fact that she didn t immediately shut him down gave him the idea that she was playing hard to get At first the hero and heroine chemistry was nice There was obvious tension between them due to the heroine s past actions The hero actually put the heroine in a trance to stop her from seeing the 3rd wheel whom is being accused of murder but unwittingly this triggers their Bond and from there on they are attached at the hip I thought it disturbing that the hero actually slept with the heroine while she was in the trance so she was unaware of her actions but she forgave him quickly enough I think it was ok because the trance just man her aware of her true deep emotions and desires but it was still off putting to say the least I was extremely disappointed with this book It had zero substance or drive It certainly wasn t a suspense or even a murder mystery It had romance was it wasn t a very good one I m said to say I found this entire series lackluster and rather dull to say the least But the fact that it ended on such a low note has seriously made me reconsider reading any further novels by this author.

This is the third novel in the Court of Angels story arc The storyline was okay, though I had a hard time figuring out who or what exactly the Embran were They never were fully explained, but that could be because they were probably explained fully in the first book.I enjoyed the chemistry between Sykes and Poppy, and I liked the secondary characters, however some of the scenes weren t quite believable Specifically one between Poppy and Sykes Poppy doesn t argue about something I think she should have raised questions about.Other than that, the story was okay, I just had a hard time connecting with it and the characters.Overall, not a great read for me, but I m sure fans of Cameron s works will enjoy it.Disclaimer This book was obtained through netgalley, free of charge, in exchange for an honest review Many thanks to Harlequin Teen for sending me this copy to review.

Out of Sight by Stella CameronI just finished reading the third novel in Stella Cameron s A Court of Angels series.Although the book cover claims that this is the third and final novel in a trilogy,I hope there will be Court of Angels novels The ending leaves the door ajar for books.Set in exotic New Orleans, this sensual paranormal romantic suspense novel follows Sykes Millet, part of an ancient family of psychics, as he becomes involved with Poppy Fortune, another paranormally talented individual A gruesome murder involving a wannabe boyfriend of Poppy, involves both her and Sykes in a homicide investigation. However, this proves to be no ordinary murder case This novel, as did Out of Mind and Out of Body, involve members of the Millet family and their lovers in fighting paranormal evil forces If you like creative horror and fantasy combined with sensual romance and mystery, then all three novels are must reads I recommend them.

Wow I didn t even realize this was the same author who wrote the mess that was Cypress Nights until I found the same characters I enjoyed this book MUCH Although, come to think of it, my problems with this book were the same as my problems with Cypress Nights they were just less pronounced That is there s still the tendency to go off on introductory tangents whenever a character is mentioned, although it s now less intrusive just a few words instead of a few paragraphs And the first sex scene between the hero and heroine really hit my squick button hard But the characters and the plot were both much engaging If I d read this one first, I d have been likely to pick up others by this author I enjoyed the concept of paranormal families in the real world it s reminiscent of Patricia Rice s Magic series which I loved.

I really enjoyed this series The Court of Angels This one seems to be the last, but leaves an opening for future books In this one Skyes Millet and Poppy Fortune fall in love as three of the the psi families in the French Quarter come together to kill the Embren that are invading us Again as in the first 2 books, great love story, great old fashion horror. The small part of this book is devoted to Uncle Pascal s coming out of the closet , this has been obvious from the beginning and he seems upset that no one is shocked The funny part is, his 18 yr old son showing up at the same time as the anouncement.I could not put any of these books down, each one getting better and better I recommend this series to all.
