Leave it to Julia Quinn to make you fall in love in a few chapters I ve come to realize, ladies and gentlemen, that Julia Quinn s novels are an oasis for both my mind and my soul She takes you by the hand, and with her magical writing she opens a portal to another era, to a world of etiquette and courting and balls and lavish gowns, where the devastatingly handsome sworn batchelors end up falling in love with the smart girls, the ones who are not admired for their dazzling beauty, but can challenge them with their wit And that s the recipe for a delicious, swoony romance This Author has come to the conclusion that there are rakes, and there are Rakes.Anthony Bridgerton is a Rake The head of the famous Bridgerton family, Anthony, is a womanizer He s the ultimate challenge for all those Ambitious Mamas that try with a frightening determination to find the perfect match to their daughters And while his ways of debauchery are legendary, he suddenly decides to tie the knot with the most beautiful debutant, Edwina There s just one tiny problem her sister Kate Sheffield is all too familiar with Anthony s reputation, and she will not let her sweet and innocent sister fall into the clutches of the most notorious and unrepentant Rake Anthony and Kate are at war but all is fair in love and war, and soon they will not be able to tell each other apart But when Anthony kissed her, she felt as if she were losing her mind And when he kissed her twice, she wasn t even sure if she wanted it back While I loved The Duke and I, it was The Viscount Who Loved Me that solidified my belief that Julia Quinn is my haven from reality Those past weeks have been really stressful, and I was in a desperate need for escape, even for an hour per day, just to keep magic alive and give me hope that dreams come true, that anyone can find love, that fairytales happen even when you least expect them The Viscount Who Loved Me was full of hilarious dialogues and veiled and not so veiled insults, tender moments that reduced me into a puddle of mush and scorching scenes that made me relish Anthony s wickedness Julia Quinn has been described as the Jane Austen of our time, and I can t help but agree She portays in an accurate way the English society, and the marriage frenzy that consumed mothers and daughters alike, but she also crafts strong family bonds, and romantic relationships that warm your heart Extended dreamy sighs are simply a natural reaction.Anthony was a difficult character to like You admired him for his devotion to his family, and his small acts of kindness, but man his views on marriage and the way he treated Kate a first made you wanna throttle him His slow development though won you over, and after a while he gave you palpitations Kate, on the other hand, was my favorite character She was extremely witty and protective, and despite being aloof and strong headed as a mule or because of it I rooted for her and her happiness Taming Anthony, and overcoming her own low opinion of him, was difficult, but they complimented each other perfect The appearance of the Bridgerton family was also a treat, because it meant lots of laughter, and the bond between Mary, Edwina and Kate was an aspect of the story that truly moved me, and made my eyes tear up Love s about finding the one person who makes your heart complete Who makes you a better person than you ever dreamed you could be Its about looking in the eyes of your wife and knowing all the way to your bones that she s simply the best person you ve ever known The story of Anthony and Kate left a shadow of a smile on my face, and a strong and lasting feeling of contentment Julia Quinn, I owe you big time For this review and visit BookNest

3.5 StarsShort and quick, I liked The Viscount Who Loved Me okay, but I wasn t much impressed with Anthony I didn t like that he was going to sleep with his ex mistress, just to get Kate out of his mind It left a sour taste in my mouth I liked Kate and I liked her family, Anthony just wasn t the greatest heroes.

Men are so fragile, it s unreal I don t enjoy being condescended to, Kate said stifly His eyes flashed And I don t like being denied my rights, he returned, his voice cold and his face a harsh rendition of aristocratic power she asked him to wait a week to have sex Lmao, so the hero here is part of those men who try to convince women that they need sex Tell me, he whispered, his lips pressing against her ear Tell me how to make it right For I don t think I can grant you your reprieve He molded his body against hers, his strong arms holding her close as he groaned, I can t wait a week, Kate I simply cannot do it Oh, well I simply cannot like you, dog.

Pure, unadulterated entertainment I can tell I am going to love this series The author has a talent for writing amusing dialogue and her characters are all so very charming One very interesting thing about this particular story was that Ms Quinn did not stoop to stereotypes The stepmother was not wicked but was much loved and her daughter and step daughter also got along together really well It was a nice touch The Bridgerton family are marvellous, always bickering and teasing each other but still all very much together Colin stood out in this book and I look forward to eventually reading about his journey towards matrimony These are ideal books for reading when you just want some good, clean fun.

Another wonderfull story from Julia Quinn and the Bridgertons This time was Antony s turn and it was equal interesting and pleasant as Daphne s Antony is the older of all the Bridgertons and he has the title of viscount.I will admit that in the first book, i didn t like him very much because he was making Simon and Daphne s life really hard, but i forgive him because he is her older brother and he was just worried about her well being I m always at your service, my lovely Viscount So, Anthony is a notorious rake He liked to partying and to past his days with different women but the time has come for him to get married as his mother is insisting And this time he is about to agree with her but he had a condition for his future wife He doesn t want her to be lovable What i mean He doesn t have to fall in love with her because he has some fears that came from his father s death So, he is choosing Edwina to be his future wife and the courting is starting But there are some complications with this plan and they have the name of Kate Sheffield.Kate is Edwina s older sister and she despises rakes, and especially Antony Bridgerton She is determined to protect her sister from him, even though that Edwina was preparing all her life to get marry with a wealthy husband as Antony But Kate s plan is about to fail as she is starting to know the viscount and she is charmed by himAntony and Kate are so antagonized of each other at the beginning and that was because they were trying to fight that pull toward each other Kate is a woman that Antony could easily love and he doesn t want this to happen But everything are about to change because of a bee Bahahaha Yep, you heard right, but i cannot tell you about itWill Kate and Antony will manage to overcome their fears and to let themselves to love each other I enjoyed and this book of this wonderfull series and i want to learn about the rest of these family Antony wasn t anything like the society described him He was kind, sweet and caring He loved his family and that is something that i really liked about this book The Bridgertons are very tied family His only flaw was that he was having some unreasonable fears but that was quite charming, especially as he was fighting to resist to his wife and to not develop tender feelings for her But how could that be possible with a woman as Kate Kate was fiesty, generous and so loving She also loved her little family very much and she could do anything for her sister Even though she didn t like Antony from what she had heard about him, she couldn t resist to him when she got to know him I really liked the both of them as a couple They were so good for each otherWell, if you liked HR, the Bridgertons is a series that you should try

From The Cover 1814 promises to be another eventful season, but not, This Author believes, for Anthony Bridgerton, London s most elusive bachelor, who has shown no indication that he plans to marry And in all truth, why should he When it comes to playing the consummate rake, nobody does it better Lady Whistledown s Society Papers, April 1814 My Review Well, wow What a great read I love it when an author can take me from hating the hero in the first chapter to adoring him by the last, and that is exactly what Julia Quinn did with Anthony, eldest of the Bridgerton children After his father s death at age 38, and his uncle s death which also came at an early age, Anthony is certain he too will die young For this reason he has lived his life, forming no attachments to anyone other than his siblings and his mother As he s nearing his 30th birthday, he decides he needs to take a bride and sire an heir But knowing or thinking he knows that he will die young, he has decided to choose a bride he is certain he will never fall in love with as he believes that would make his certain death too painful for himself to endure This is where he drove me nutty If you look up the word martyr in a thesaurus, Anthony Bridgerton would be listed as an alternative word There came a point when I was hoping he would go frolic in a bee infested field of heather Blushes I guess that was rather harsh, but by the end of the book I wanted to bring him home and love him all better. All in all, I enjoyed The Viscount Who Loved Me so much than Daphne s story in The Duke and I which felt one dimensional to me not nearly as deep a read Both the hero, Anthony, and the heroine, Kate Sheffield, were such wonderfully complex characters that I found myself wanting to truly understand why they were as they were to feel what they felt fear, anger, longing thankfully Julia Quinn developed them so fully that I was able to do just that, and connected with them both on a deep level, making me care for them and hoping for the their happily ever after.

This was a really great historical with a silly side It s been a long time since I ve read a Julia Quinn novel, but I was dying for a good regency romance and this one really hit the spot Some of the situations were just funny, which I wasn t expecting But it had some really great conflict that kept me invested The hero is determined to marry the Belle of the Ball But it s her annoying, meddling sister who is trying to keep them apart who he can t help be interested in A love hate dynamic The hero can be a bit of a douche in the beginning so that was good And some unexpected humor I d recommend to regency lovers

Viscount Anthony Bridgerton feels he s running out of time, thinking he would die young like his father, decided to finally marry and sire an heir before his young death When he picks out the beauty of the season, he feels everything would go smoothly, he would have a agreeable marriage with no risk to his heart.that is until he meets his intended s older sister Kate Sheffield will not have a well known rake like Anthony anywhere near her sister Doing everything in her power to prevent a marriage between the two at any means possible As both fight a battle of wills they can t resist the attraction that flare between and the risk it does to their hearts It took me a few chapters to really warm up to Anthony, I didn t care for attitude or the way he treated Kate with one part that made me mad when they bit and kicked one another Although no blood was shed or anyone really hurt much how children horseplay I just couldn t feel anything for Anthony until he started to really open up and show not the peer fa ade but, the man who lost his father at a tender age and became the head of his beloved family Growing up with a fear he may as well end up like his father This is the man that really drew me into the story, although sometimes fear can be irrational, I could really understand and feel for him, as it took a lot to face his demons Kate also helped Anthony face his fears, as he did for her, Kate never backed down from Anthony and didn t pull her punches, and while at times she did seem a little weak in the knees around him, she wasn t alone in that matter as the spark of desire flared hot between the two as they both ended up kissing one another or The couple started out at each other throats, but really grew to understand and fall in love with one another bringing out an inner strength in each other The steam and tension was always there, but the love scenes don t come until later and call me prudish or a romantic fangirl but I really love when the love scene is worked toward then the main leads just jumping into bed the first chapter or page There s always a classic or memorable scene in each of JQ s books and TVWLM wasn t an exception with the crazy Pall Mall game playing out with a mallet of death and everyone out to ruin the other s game Kate showing Anthony she can be just as evil and sly as he It had me laughing and re reading the game scene a few times over The Bridgerton family is still a riot as they lead a helpful and not so helpful hand to the wayward couple Benedict and Colin eating walnuts and smashing them on the desk while Anthony had a hangover was true family love As always the true scene stealer is the great Lady Whistledown and she always gives hints and acts sometimes as a commenter to the events unfolding with her gossip column Overall a truly delightful read, with a great message of learning to conquer any fears with a love and understanding Another amazing JQ read
