When I think PP variations, I have found the varied from the original, the better sometimes , especially if plot development is supported with strong character development I also am a long time fan of fantasy and paranormal that also has strong character and plots, especially story arcs that develop their own history I was very pleasantly surprised to find this book merged this all together fairly well, in a unique prequel From the start, we have a major incident at Pemberley which unites Darcy, his cousin Fitzwilliam, Bingley and Louisa with a Doctor Adler, AKA Hurst when in town, against the newly discovered menace vampyres The alliance continues on in their quest to protect their own, and to learn as much as they can The narrative changes perspective amongst the characters, giving insight to each, especially with Caroline as she discovers what is going on And they have to hide all this to protect themselves and others, so you begin to see some of the well known traits from canon appear out of the gravity of the situation, or as a facade It s a pretty good build up to what will come I look forward to the next book, which should be at Netherfield.
