Jeanette s Love is the second novel in the Cantiniere Tales series The reader is swept away with our main character, Jeanette, to Egypt, following along with the campaign of Napoleon to conquer in the name of France Old foes and friends are back, as well as new ones Jeanette has grown, somewhat, and finds herself thrown into new trials and tribulations Her cousin, Gilbert, is ever present, but many seek to use Jeanette for their own nefarious means This is a period of history I know little about Napoleon s campaigns through Egypt were certainly fraught with peril, and Jeanette never fails to say what she thinks of taking the French army to such a foreign land Many soldiers suffered terribly at the hands of the Bedouins, and Longward doesn t stray from the nitty gritty details This book is just as amazing as the first I truly appreciate the extent he went through to give the reader a historical accurate portrayal of this time As always, it s told through the eyes of Jeanette, so these are her opinions on the whole affair, and as always, it s refreshing to have such a candid view on her time in Egypt with the French military I m looking forward to when book three comes out, and I can finally have a conclusion to this epic woman s life.

Once started the book is impossible to put down I did manage to put marinade on a skirt steak to cook later, but otherwise this adventure story kept me enthralled It is non stop action start to finish Much of the experience of the heroine stretches credulity, but what fun anticipating what outlandish thing might happen next I look forward to reading the next installment of this adventure as the characters are truly appealing.

Hello This is a classical adventure story of a girl during the French Revolution There will be deceit and violence, though definitely less than in my Hraban Chronicles If you are looking for a strong female lead in a furious adventure, this series might be for you This is the book number two in the series and takes place in Egypt.
