Quick summarySingle mother and linguist Vivi Vincent walks into the Minnesota Mall with her 8 year old son, Michael, and within minutes finds herself in the middle of one of the worst terrorist attacks since 9 11 FBI Special Agent Jed Brennan, on leave and on his way to his Wisconsin hometown, stops by the mall for some Christmas shopping and finds himself unwittingly in the middle of the action He joins forces with the resourceful Vivi to escape but not before her son manages to overhear vital information about the terrorist that ultimately puts him at risk What I loved about the storyThe action starts pretty quickly and the tension never eases up throughout the book Vivi s not only super protective about her emotionally challenged son but is quick minded and resourceful As terrified as she is for Michael, she s no damsel in distress, holding her own among all the alphabet law enforcement Jed s smart and naturally bonds with the traumatized and mute Michael I loved his relationship with the child as much as with Vivi Their romance works, too, even when Jed screws up royally The inclusion of the terrorists points of view made the story chilling, offering a perspective that was maddening and illuminating at the same time The bottom lineThe story is high tension with a complicated and intricate plot that wasn t easy to unravel let alone solve Between worrying about Vivi and Michael, figuring out the terrorists end game and who was the inside leak, I was completely enthralled Though the nod goes to the suspense, the romance holds its own Loving this series

4 stars Romantic SuspenseLoved it Cold Pursuit is a gripping, intense, and action packed romantic suspense thriller that reads like a great movie My only complaint is the same I had with the first book, A Cold Dark Place, which is that I felt like the ending was a bit rushed for the H h, and I wanted a definitive HEA Still, it s an excellent romantic suspense read, and I m really enjoying this series I can t wait for the next book, Cold Light of Day, to come out

4.5 Stars Love it when a book delivers on both the suspense the romance Cold Pursuit is the perfect blend The action starts right away as Vivi Vincent enters the Minnesota Mall with her mute son, Michael, and finds herself in the middle of a terrorist attack FBI Agent Jed Brennan rescues them only to realize that Michael is in danger because of what he may have seen or heard while hiding from the terrorists Jed vows to protect them, whisking them away to a safe house that proves to be anything but safe And so begins an intense, action packed story that held me on the edge of my seat from cover to cover I loved Jed as he fought his attraction to Vi even as he lost his heart to her son, Michael Vi is a strong, protective mother one whose claws come out anytime her son is threatened The chemistry between Jed Vi is very strong real as is the emotional turmoil that both feel as they fight their feelings both for their own reasons Romance Suspense a beautiful Child A Must Read I have fallen in love with this series

Cold Pursuit is the novel that follows A Cold Dark Place, the second book in the Cold Justice series by Toni Anderson It tells the story of single mom Veronica Vincent Vivi and her eight year old son Michael who get caught up in the crossfire of a terrorist attack at a shopping mall With an eidetic memory, Michael who doesn t speak poses a serious threat to the plans of the terrorists, whose bigger agenda supersedes that of any usual terrorist attack.FBI Special Agent Jed Brennan who is on enforced leave finds himself a crucial part of the investigation launched to find the remaining terrorists and to prevent any further attacks There is also the untimely attraction that flares between Vivi and himself way before the case begins, throwing the detachment that should be when it comes to her nowhere to be found Unlocking the clues in Michael s head is the break that practically every law enforcement agency in the country needs but with Vivi protecting her son as fiercely as any mother should makes the task doubly harder when Jed himself becomes protective of the little boy who tugs at his heartstrings.Too many close calls finds Jed, Vivi and Michael going into hiding, to give the agencies the time to do what they do best and to give Michael the time to recuperate so that he might give into the need to put pen to paper and give a face to the people that were being hunted relentlessly Add to the mix the volatile sexual attraction between Vivi and Jed together with the baggage Vivi mostly brings to the equation, Cold Pursuit definitely has the elements of a high roller coaster ride.Reading terrorism themed books and watching related TV shows is a bit of a touchy issue with me, considering the fact that I am a Muslim myself Not that I would ever believe that our religion calls for the slaughter of millions of innocents in the name of a religion that propagates peace above everything else But the fact that Muslims at large are portrayed as terrorists by the fact their name ends or begins with Muhammad is a cause of concern for me, stereotyping that actually adds to the problem in my opinion In my eyes, violence is wrong whether its state sanctioned or endorsed by a terrorist organization looking to make the headlines But I guess it is rather easy to make that call while you are sitting in the comfort of your own home, reading on your iPad or watching what goes over in Syria, Iraq or Afghanistan for that matter on TV with a detached air about you because those things have become practically the realities of everyday existence.I d say Toni handled the terrorism aspect of the story really well, giving voice to the villains as well as the heroes in the story The villains aren t as clear cut as some people might like them to be and I understood where they were coming from survival being the reason behind the consequential actions However that doesn t mean I agree with the killing and senseless mayhem that went down, but becoming pawns in a mindless game planned and executed as a nefarious means to an end by the power hungry is something that happens across the globe every single day Kudos to Toni for giving a voice to the killers and the victims it is not easy to make a reader empathize with a villain on a level such as this and she has achieved it remarkably well in my opinion. The sexual tension in the book kept the sizzle factor always at the forefront, no mean feat when there s killing and mayhem surrounding you at every turn Jed was such a dreamy hero, sexy enough to melt your panties, charming enough to knock your socks off and with the kind of gentle soul that you don t come across every day Toni creates splendid alpha heroes that are sweet on the inside and yet manages to give just enough angst to keep things real between the hero and heroine That is what I call good writing, the kind that keeps you coming back for .Vivi and Michael each have earned a place in my heart Vivi for her sheer bravery and the protectiveness that she displays towards her son It is not easy to move past the scars left behind by an emotionally abusive spouse and Vivi earned my wholehearted approval by being brave enough to seduce Jed out of his goody two shoes belief that he is no good for the long run where relationships are concerned Michael on the other hand tugged at my heartstrings his uniqueness something Toni created beautifully well The struggles that Vivi undergoes added to the burden of being the sole caregiver of Michael increased the respect I had for Vivi as the heroine. The ending definitely gave the surprise effect Toni was aiming for And that you d have to read to find out because in my eyes, the scenario that played out is entirely a plausible one when one considers the factors in play The only thing I could have wished for was an epilogue Sorely missed one in the first book and this one as well. Most obviously I am looking forward to Killion s story Now if that ain t a hint to Toni to write the story ASAP, I don t know what would be Definitely recommended for those who love a great romantic suspense Rating 4 5For reviews and quotes of this book and , visit Cold Pursuit Cold Justice 2 by Toni Anderson was everything I am coming to expect from this author and I loved this story and characters It has everything I want in a Romantic Suspense action, suspense, tension and two people who deserve each other with a HEA The story starts with a mall attack by terrorists while single mom, Vivi Vincent and her son, Michael, are shopping and enjoying the holiday season FBI agent, Jed Brennan is also in the mall with no weapon, while on vacation A bomb goes off and then the shooting begins The plot continues to escalate from there when the terrorists realize Michael was in a cabinet hiding while they were in the toy store and they don t know what he heard or knows.Ms Anderson keeps you reading The characters are all complex, even the terrorists The author brings to light how very complex the politics are in the Middle East with a surprising twist The romantic elements are handled very realistically The plot and action start with a bang and keep you there on the edge of your seat This can be read as a stand alone, but there is a story thread throughout the series This is a book and series to read if your love Romantic Suspense.

Now I know in the last book I told you I wasn t a big mystery suspense fan I am taking that statement back I couldn t put this book down I loved it Romance Suspense is quickly become a favorite of mine.Vivi Vincent literally lived through a nightmare, with her 8 yr old son who is none speaking Not only that but she is running for her and her sons life with the help of FBI Special Agent Jed Brennan. The sparks fly between these two from the get go It s plain to see they are hot for each other but circumstance, doesn t really let romance blossom I found Vivi to constantly second guess herself, but what she doesn t see and everyone else does is that she is one hell of a mother and its never going to be perfect raising kids never is It s all guess work really we learn as we go Her ex really did a number on her self confidence, it really is no wonder why she hears him in her head and does second guess herself I think Jed is lonely That was my take on the guy strong loyal type Hot too if the way Toni describes him He can be my protector anytime I love how he was with Michael, Vivi s son He doesn t treat him like he is any different that totally rocks So if you like book 1 you are going to LOVE book 2 I can t wait to get started on book 3.

Talk about a plot that is ripped from the headlines, this one is America s worst nightmare This book grabs you from the first page and takes you on a waterslide of twists and turns and will make you lose sleep, even after you finish it The this could happen at any time feeling will stay with you long after you finish this book While mired in some angst and small amounts of the martyr syndrome, this is still one fantastic read.Vivi and her son, Michael are spending an afternoon at a large mall in Minneapolis, MN Their time there is shattered by a terrorist attack and Vivi is forced to leave Michael hiding while she looks for a way out of this nightmare Jeb is on vacation from his stressful job as an FBI agent assigned to the BAU section Their paths cross innocently before all hell breaks loose Jeb ends up saving then both, but not before Michael is witness, up close and personal to the terrorists and may have overheard their plans and also be able to ID them Problem is Michael doesn t speak He has an eidetic memory and can draw anything, but he doesn t speak and they need the information locked in his brain in order to catch the terrorists before they can strike again When the whole range of alphabet lineup on government agencies converge on Michael, Vivi turns mama bear and sends them all packing, only allowing Jeb contact Then the safe house is attacked and Jeb and Vivi realize they are not going to be safe under government protection Jeb takes then to the Minnesota north woods, his home, and they go to ground with Jeb s family as protection. The romance between Jeb and Vivi is slow to ignite He doesn t do relationships, she has major trust issues courtesy of her ex and the stress of the situation is killer, none of which can stand in the face of such a palpable sexual attraction.

2.5 starsI really thought I was gonna enjoy this Books with single parents that actually feature the child are my jam and Micheal was just precious. But unfortunately, I didn t.If this were a couple of years ago, younger Umaiya would have just shrugged it off so maybe I m just being really sensitive about the whole thing but as a Muslim woman I m sick of all the arab muslim terrorist plots I m sick of it only being terrorism when a muslim is involved How the individual is considered disturbed and misguided instead of being branded and prosecuted as the sick monster they are only because they were born white.Newsflash The colour of my skin was not my choice My ethnicity was not my decision My nationality was not in my control I am merely trying to make the best of this hand that I was dealt and I am sick of being targeted for things I have no power over.I am Muslim and proud and just plain sick of it all.Yes I realize I am ranting and a bit unfairly too but I can t explain that bit without major spoilers so talk to me if you ve already read the book or don t care about spoiling it but yeah it s frustrating You won t believe the number of shows and books and people I have had to let go off because of this Anyway, in terms of romantic suspense, I found the characterisation kinda weak but with a lot of potential Everything would progress right to the edge of brilliance and depth but fail to take the leap at the last moment. This was my first my Toni Anderson and barring the Muslim terrorist plot stream I don t see any reason not to try her other works.
